CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Fall 2017

The Phoenix literary journal was created in 1958 in the heart of Western North Carolina and has a long tradition of publishing fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, artwork, and photography. Both an online and annual print journal, the Pfeiffer Phoenix is currently accepting submissions for its spring issue.

Submission Requirements
Prose: 5,000 words or less
Flash Fiction/Creative Nonfiction: 1,500 words or less, maximum of five submissions
Poetry: maximum of 5 submissions
Photography or Visual Art: maximum of 5 submissions

3) and simply upload your creative work to us!



CONTEST GUIDELINES
The Piedmont Institute of Communication, Art and Music (PICMA) Emerging Writers Contest

The prizes will be as follows:

First Prize: $1000, a $5000/year scholarship to Pfeiffer University pending acceptance to the University, publication in the annual issue of The Phoenix, and a public reading at the spring 2017 launch party. The winner is granted a travel stipend.

Second Prize: $500, a $3000/year scholarship to Pfeiffer University pending acceptance to the University, publication in the annual issue of The Phoenix, and a public reading at the spring 2017 launch party.

Third Prize: $250, a $2000/year scholarship to Pfeiffer University pending acceptance to the University, publication in the annual issue of The Phoenix, and a public reading at the spring 2017 launch party.

The judges reserve the right to withhold a prize, if they feel it necessary to do so. All decisions of the judges are final.

Opens: September 1st
Closes: December 1st

The Phoenix accepts previously unpublished work in any style, form, or genre. No more than 5000 words, double-spaced, for prose or five poems per entry. Applicants must be enrolled in high school to participate.

All work entered will be considered for publication. Please include a cover letter with your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and title(s) of piece(s). Lastly, state within your cover letter that this is a submission for the PICMA contest. Please follow how to login to submit as direct above.
